Madrid fashion week was first started in February 1985 and it was known as Pasarela Cibeles till 2008. This is an important and unique platform for the designers to promote new trends and fashions in Spain. The Madrid fashion week is held twice in a year. The edition no. 49 of this week was held in February 2009. Madrid fashion week had its 50th edition on Sep. 18,2009. IFEMA has celebrated Madrid fashion week golden jubilee at that date.

Madrid fashion week is recently held on August 30,2012. This week has whole new burst of colours and irresistive styles that has grabbed the attention of fashion media and magzines. Fashion journalist has their opnien that no one has to miss this show. On stage the catwalk has flamed the fire where talents meets the glamour. These are colorful dresses with the tradional images. Frida Khalo's performance in the show was a source of inspiration for young designers.
Maya Hansen, a famous spainish designer has designed her collection inspired by the material and textile patterns of 20 th century. Her collection "Queens of spain" has made her space between the famous designers. Her designs inspired from Day of Death in Madrid fashion week has attracted the world towards it. Models were wearing body tight suits designed with skully type prints. Lady Gaga has also wear some dresses from Maya Hansen's collection.
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada
Agatha Ruiz de la Prada is famous for her nature inspired designs. She has once again proved that fashion can be entertainment. Models covered their heads with pink color netted hearts, They were dressed in stars, wrapped candy, flowers and umbrella rained by storm.
